Membership
Membership Qualifications
There are six classes of membership in the Society: Active, Associate, Honorary, Inactive, Life and Resident. Membership is a privilege and not a right, and it is contingent upon continuing compliance with the By-Laws of the Society. No person shall be elected or remain a member of the Society unless he or she is of good moral character and adheres to accepted principles of medical ethics.

Qualifications for Active Membership
- Be a legally qualified, reputable practicing surgeon who is board certified in plastic surgery, active in craniofacial surgery, and who has made worthwhile contributions in this field.
- Has at least twelve (12) months training in craniofacial surgery at a program recognized by the Society.
- Completed a Plastic Surgery residency.
- Has been in active practice of craniofacial surgery for a minimum of three years.
- Board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS) or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC).
- Must submit a list of operations performed in two consecutive years, which have been approved by the Society. At least fifteen (15) of these should have been of the intracranial type, with a total of 35 maxillofacial cases over a two year period. Sample Case Log
- Submit a list of members of your clinical team.
- Has published at least two papers on the subject of craniofacial surgery.
- Shall live and practice craniofacial surgery in the United States of America.

Qualifications for Associate Membership
Individuals who are acquiring credentials for Active membership or have contributed to the understanding and/or treatment of disorders of the craniofacial region. They need not necessarily be actively engaged in the practice of craniofacial surgery.

Qualifications for Resident/Fellow Membership
- Individuals who are currently in plastic surgery residencies or fellowships, or in craniofacial fellowships.
- Shall not be assessed dues; however, they shall be required to pay registration fees for any meetings that they attend.
- Cannot vote, hold office, or attend Executive Committee meetings of the Officers and Council.
- Resident/Fellow membership automatically terminates when the member is no longer in residency or fellowship program, for whatever reason.

Qualifications for Inactive Membership
- Members in any category, upon application to the Secretary-Treasurer of the Society, may be transferred to inactive membership. Members in any category absent for three meetings or who have stopped paying dues will be converted to inactive status.
- Inactive members may be reinstated on application to the Secretary-Treasurer of the Society and approval of the Offices and Council.
- Inactive members need not attend meetings or pay dues; however, they shall be required to pay registration fees for meetings they attend.
- Inactive members cannot vote, hold office or attend executive meetings of the Officers and Council.
Qualifications for Life Membership
- Life members shall be individuals who have retired from active clinical practice and who make application for this class of membership.
- Life members shall not be assessed dues; however, they shall be required to pay registration fees for any meeting which they attend.
- Life members cannot vote, hold office or attend executive meetings of the Officers and Council.
