Pediatric Calvarial Defects: Controversy and Consensus

This panel will address the controversies and consensus regarding reconstruction of pediatric calvarial defects. Panelists will discuss the surgical indications for repair taking into account determination of the critical size defect, impact of location and size, and consideration of head growth and timing of reconstruction. Surgical techniques such as autologous bone, alloplastic materials, and custom made materials and their potential complications and outcomes will also be reviewed. The panelists will address cases and field questions from the audience to highlight areas of controversy and consensus in the treatment of pediatric calvarial defects.
